God was with his people wherever they went. If they set up camp, God’s presence – symbolised by pillars of cloud and fire, dwelt there in the Tabernacle. If they moved, God led the way. The Tabernacle points us to the work and person of Jesus, God’s son. We can approach our holy God, not through the Tabernacle or sacrifices, but through Jesus. His sinless life, once-for-all-time sacrificial death and resurrection mean that, if we trust him, we can have our sins forgiven, be made clean, have eternal life and know God’s presence now and forever.
